Salem-Cambridge girls wrestling tops Corinth in dual meet

CAMBRIDGE — The Salem-Cambridge girls varsity wrestling team picked up a 38-15 win over Corinth on Tuesday, earning victories in eight bouts and securing several bonus-point wins.

Salem-Cambridge opened the match with momentum at 94 pounds, where Annalise Verge earned a technical fall over Alexa LaMere, 10-0, in 1:40. Isabella LeBarron followed with a forfeit win at 100 pounds before Molly Maxwell pinned Jessica Freebern in just 37 seconds at 107.

At 114 pounds, Mary Langevin recorded a fall over Piper Houser at 3:48, and Ava Fazioli added another pin at 120 with a quick fall over Kierra Rosa. Corinth picked up points at 126 pounds with a forfeit win by Arie Shannon.

The 132-pound bout ended in a double forfeit, while Corinth’s Emilee Abare earned a fall over Kiara Ayers at 138 pounds in 2:30. Salem-Cambridge responded at 145, as Charlotte Hodgkinson pinned Trinity Prosser in 1:28.

Renee Cary added a technical fall for Salem-Cambridge at 152, defeating Angellica Nichalos 10-0 in 2:10. The 165-pound weight class ended in a double forfeit, and Corinth’s McKenna Eastman earned a forfeit win at 185.

Salem-Cambridge (3-1) closed out the match at 235 pounds, where Danyelle Trinkle pinned Natalie Stewart in just 34 seconds to seal the victory.

Salem-Cambridge stays unbeaten with win over Corinth in Adirondack League showdown

SALEM — In a matchup of two Adirondack League teams that entered the night undefeated, Salem-Cambridge continued its strong start to the season Tuesday, defeating Corinth 50-27 in a league dual meet.

Salem-Cambridge improved to 11-0 overall by winning nine of the 14 bouts, pulling away behind a mix of early pins and key victories in the middle weights. Corinth, which fell to 8-2, picked up five wins on the night, including four by fall.

The highlight bout came at 126 pounds, where past state qualifiers Luke LeBlanc of Salem-Cambridge and Lenny Rosa of Corinth squared off. LeBlanc controlled the match throughout and earned a technical fall, 18-2, to give Salem-Cambridge a pivotal six points.

Salem-Cambridge also built momentum with a string of pins. Jackson Kirchner opened the scoring at 285 pounds with a fall over Elder Ramirez in 1:40. Lucas Nolan followed with a lightning-fast pin at 103 pounds, sticking Brycen Schurr in just 19 seconds. Nathan Havens added a pin at 144 pounds over Emerson Rigley, while Sawyer Saddlemire and Cooper Saddlemire closed out the dual with back-to-back falls at 190 and 215 pounds, respectively.

Additional wins for Salem-Cambridge came from Jonah Stevens at 118 pounds, Henry Dill at 165, and Jacob Wardwell at 175, who edged Ashton Moors by a 9-7 decision.

Corinth’s victories included a fall by Mason Rose at 110 pounds, Blake Cronk’s pin at 132, Aiden Schurr’s win at 138, Keegan Baker’s fall at 150, and a decision by Camdyn Moors at 157.
