NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Preliminary Budget of the Town of Jackson for the fiscal year beginning January 1, 2025, including general town, highway & fire protection district funds, has been completed and filed in the office of the Town Clerk at the Jackson Town Hall, 2355 State Route 22, Cambridge where it is available for inspection by any interested persons during regular office hours.

NOTICE OF ADOPTION OF A RESOLUTION BY THE TOWN BOARD OF THE TOWN OF CAMBRIDGE SUBJECT TO PERMISSIVE REFERENDUM

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that, at a regular meeting held on the 10th day of October, 2024 the Town Board of the Town of Cambridge, New York duly adopted a resolution which is subject to a permissive referendum pursuant to Town Law section 90.

The Town Board presented the idea of using Town Hall Reserve Funds to purchase the software package from Williamson Law to help with the Clerk to the Supervisor position. The Town of Cambridge has no financial software to maintain the Town Bookkeeping and do payroll. Williamson Law Municipal Accounting & Budget Software and Payroll Software will bring the Town of Cambridge up to date, this software is specifically created for New York State Municipalities: reports are beneficial to local administrators and can be used to complete NYS and Federal filings.

The State Comptroller’s publication provides that the withdrawal of funds from a “type” capital reserve fund is subject to permissive referendum.

THEREFORE, based on the OSC publication and the period of probable usefulness assigned under section 81 of the Local Finance Law for financial software, the withdrawal of funds from a “type” capital reserve fund for the purchase/installation of financial software would be subject to a permissive referendum.

PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that the Resolution was adopted subject to permissive referendum pursuit to section 11.00(81)[b]Local Finance Law for financial software. The Resolution shall take effect and the Supervisor has signed agreement to purchase the software in the amount of Twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000).

PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that eligible voters have the right to file a petition to require the matter to be subjected to voter approval, notice will be posted for 30 days in the Eagle, on Town Website and on Town Bulletin Board

Notice is hereby given that the Town Board of the Town of Cambridge will hold a Public Hearing on November 4, 2024 at 7:30 PM at the Town Hall for the purpose of Local Law Number 2, 2024 to override the tax levy.

The Town Board will hold the public hearing in the intent of this local law to override the limit on the amount of real property taxes that may be levied by the Town of Cambridge, Washington County, pursuant to General Municipal Law Section 3-c and to allow the Town of Cambridge to adopt a town budget for a) town purposes, b) fire protection and any other special or improvement governed by the Town Board for the fiscal year 2025 that requires a real property tax levy in excess of the “tax levy limit” as defined by General Municipal Law Section 3-c. Such override is necessary and in the best interests of the Town.
