Chocolate milk pulled from Cambridge Central School cafeteria as precaution
CAMBRIDGE — Cambridge Central School notified families that chocolate milk recently served in the school cafeteria was pulled out of an abundance of caution after concerns were raised about spoilage.
In a message posted to the district’s ParentSquare page, Technology Coordinator Chris Crucetti said the school discovered the issue and immediately contacted the vendor.
“This letter is to inform you about a potential health concern that may affect some of our students,” the message stated. “We discovered and informed the vendor that the chocolate milk we recently received and served is spoiled.”
According to the notice, the vendor confirmed that other schools had also reported similar concerns. Although the milk had an expiration date of Jan. 19 and had not been recalled, the school removed it from service at approximately 11 a.m. after determining it should not be served.
“We are sending this notification out of an abundance of caution and ask that you monitor your children for any symptoms if they drank chocolate milk from the cafeteria,” the message continued.
The school reported that a new shipment of chocolate milk was received and served at lunch the same day and will continue to be served going forward.
Families with concerns were advised to contact their healthcare provider.
The notice was issued by Cambridge Central School.
