Tamarac Rallies Late to Top Stillwater 5-4
STILLWATER — The Tamarac Bengals staged a gritty comeback on Wednesday, scoring in the sixth and seventh innings to edge Stillwater 5-4 in a tightly contested matchup.
Down 4-3 entering the final two frames, Tamarac tied it up in the sixth before pushing across the go-ahead run in the seventh. The Bengals’ bats stayed active throughout, racking up 10 hits. Aidan Quackenbush led the charge with two hits—including a double—and an RBI, while Nate Desso also had a multi-hit day and drove in a run. Jack Smith doubled and drew three walks, scoring once and driving in another.
Quackenbush started on the mound for Tamarac and battled through three innings, allowing four runs on one hit while walking eight. Cody Hawk came on in relief and delivered four scoreless innings, scattering two hits and striking out five to earn the win.
Stillwater jumped ahead with a four-run third inning but couldn't hold the lead. They managed just three hits in the game, one apiece from Aidan Murray, Ryan Brown, and Danny Kramek. Murray also pitched 3.2 innings, giving up three runs—only one earned—while striking out eight.
Hoosick Falls Falls to Mechanicville, 6-2
HOOSICK FALLS — The Panthers came up short against Mechanicville on Thursday, April 10, falling 6-2 in varsity baseball action.
Sophomore Spencer Tate led the Hoosick Falls offense with a double, while senior Carson Glover chipped in with an RBI single. Sophomore Cooper Thayne added the team’s second run with a sacrifice fly.
Salem-Cambridge Holds Off Hadley-Luzerne in 7-6 Win Shortened by Daylight
LAKE LUZERNE — Salem-Cambridge outlasted Hadley-Luzerne 7-6 in a back-and-forth contest Thursday that was called after five innings due to fading daylight.
The visiting team jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the first and added key insurance runs in the fourth and fifth to stay just ahead of a persistent Eagles lineup. Chase Baylor sparked the offense, going 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two stolen bases. James Beagle added a single, double, two RBIs, and a run, while Stephen Yakubec chipped in a pair of hits and an RBI.
Beagle also earned the win on the mound, tossing four innings with six strikeouts while allowing just one earned run on five hits. Cooper Petell handled most of the fifth before giving way to Yakubec, who struck out the final batter to lock down the save.
Hadley-Luzerne made it interesting with a two-run fifth to pull within one. Logan Alejandro had a hit and scored a run, while James Bristol drove in a run and crossed the plate himself.
Logan Alejandro and Taylor Smead split the pitching duties for the Eagles, combining for six walks and six strikeouts across five innings.
Tamarac Cruises Past Stillwater with 13-3 Win
BRUNSWICK — Tamarac exploded for 12 runs over the final three innings to take down Stillwater 13-3 in five innings on Thursday, improving to 2-0 in league play.
Aidan Quackenbush sparked the Bengals' offense, going 3-for-3 with a double, walk, and three runs scored. J. Smith helped his own cause on the mound, driving in two runs and stealing two bases while also picking up the win with 4.2 innings of three-run ball. He struck out five and walked two while scattering seven hits.
C. Hawk was another standout for Tamarac, going 2-for-2 with three RBIs and two stolen bases. The Bengals showed patience at the plate, drawing 14 walks, including four by K. Blakesley, who scored three times despite not recording a hit.
Stillwater put up a fight early, led by R. Brown’s three-hit game and D. Kramek’s RBI single. Kramek also started on the mound, allowing four runs in just over two innings before giving way to the bullpen.
Spa Catholic Rallies Past Greenwich 8-7
GREENWICH — Despite jumping out to a 7-3 lead after two innings, Greenwich couldn’t hold off a determined Spa Catholic squad, falling 8-7 in a tight league battle on Thursday.
The Witches' offense came out firing, collecting seven hits and seven runs early, but Spa Catholic answered with a four-run third to tie the game and tacked on the go-ahead run in the fourth. From there, Saints starter Luke Dejnozka shut the door, tossing a complete game with seven strikeouts while allowing just one earned run on seven hits.
Tyler Weygand led the Saints at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBIs, while Pierce Byrne delivered the biggest blow—a two-run homer as part of the third-inning surge. Ronan Rowe added a double in the win.
For Greenwich, Cal Curtis continued his hot streak with a 3-for-4 day and an RBI. Ryan Ingber also went 3-for-4, and Mike Cronin chipped in two hits and an RBI.
Cooper Skiff took the loss on the mound for the Witches, who drop a close one despite outhitting the Saints 8-7.
Greenwich Bats Explode in League Win Over Waterford-Halfmoon
WATERFORD — The Greenwich Witches lit up the scoreboard Friday night, cruising to a 17-6 league victory over Waterford-Halfmoon behind a 15-hit offensive onslaught and a strong start from Michael Cronin.
The Witches wasted no time getting on the board, scoring in every inning except the sixth, including a six-run outburst in the seventh to put the game away. Joey Skiff led the charge at the plate, going 4-for-5 with a double, three singles, and four RBIs. Ryan Ingber chipped in three singles and two RBIs, while Keegan Clayton added a base hit and drove in three.
Calvin Curtis doubled, and Jack Scieszka delivered two singles as Greenwich evened its overall record at 2-2 and improved to 1-2 in league play.
On the mound, Cronin went four innings, giving up five hits and two earned runs while striking out seven to earn the win.
Waterford-Halfmoon stayed within reach early, thanks to a two-hit day from Jason Fraim, including a double, and a three-run homer by Jack Gilbert in the sixth. Tristan Philo and Anthony Mantello each contributed two singles for the Fordians.
Greenwich now stands at 2-2 overall and 1-2 in league play; Waterford-Halfmoon drops to 1-2 overall and 1-1 in the league.
Hoosic Valley Outlasts Mechanicville
MECHANICVILLE — Hoosic Valley held off a late push by Mechanicville on Friday night to secure a 5-4 road victory, powered by a strong outing from starter Jackson Schram and a clutch two-inning save from Owen Harder.
Schram tossed five innings, allowing just one earned run while keeping the Red Raiders off balance. Harder came on in the sixth and slammed the door, earning the six-out save to preserve the win.
Offensively, the Hawks spread the production around. Austin Brown and Owen Harder both collected two hits, while Parker Gela added excitement on the basepaths with three stolen bases and a run scored. Hoosic Valley plated runs in the second, third, fourth, and sixth innings to stay a step ahead.
For Mechanicville, leadoff man John Fedorowicz did his part to keep the home team close, finishing with two hits, three runs scored, and a walk. Mark Pingelski drove in a run with a double in the fourth to tie the game 3-3 at the time, but Hoosic Valley answered quickly.
Yakubec Strikes Out 19 in No-Hit Win Over L.G.
SALEM — A dominant complete-game no-hitter from Stephen Yakubec and a late offensive surge propelled Salem-Cambridge to a 4-0 win over Lake George on Friday in Wasaren League action.
Yakubec was untouchable on the mound, striking out 19 batters while allowing just one walk and one hit batsman across seven no-hit innings. The only Lake George players to reach base came via a walk, an error, and a hit-by-pitch, but none advanced past second.
The game remained scoreless through five until Salem-Cambridge broke it open in the bottom of the sixth. Luke Yakubec sparked the rally with a double to right, then came around to score on a throwing error following Chase Baylor’s infield single. Stephen Yakubec followed with an RBI double to plate Baylor, and Cooper Saddlemire drove in two more with a sharp single to right, scoring Yakubec and Kalob Carney.
Luke Yakubec finished 2-for-2 with a single, double, run scored, and stolen base, while Stephen Yakubec helped his own cause by going 2-for-3 with an RBI, a run, and a stolen base.
Lake George's pitching held strong early, with Ben Sheldon tossing five solid innings, allowing three earned runs on five hits while striking out five. Max Hohman pitched the sixth, giving up one earned run on one hit and a walk.
Salem-Cambridge is 2-1 overall.
Hoosick Falls Explodes in Third Inning to Top Tamarac 11-8
BRUNSWICK — A nine-run third inning propelled Hoosick Falls past Tamarac 11-8 on Friday in a high-scoring Wasaren League battle, with Carson Glover leading the way at the plate and Logan Nicholas earning the win on the mound.
The Panthers trailed 3-1 after the first but erupted in the top of the third with a barrage of hits and patient plate appearances, ultimately sending 13 batters to the plate. Glover was electric, going 3-for-4 with a single, double, triple, and four RBIs. Max Landry, Porter Driscoll, and Eli Brown each added two hits and an RBI, helping Hoosick Falls build and maintain their lead.
Nicholas pitched six innings, allowing nine hits and seven earned runs while striking out six. Sean Tate closed it out with a clean seventh inning. At the plate, Nicholas also chipped in a hit, RBI, and scored twice.
Dylan Gerik led Tamarac’s effort with a 3-for-3 day at the plate and an RBI. Drew Plante added two hits and two RBIs, while Jack Smith and Kade Blakesley each contributed extra-base hits and an RBI.
Despite both teams tallying 10 hits, Tamarac’s five errors proved costly. Hoosick Falls improves to 1-2 in league play (1-2 overall), while the Bengals drop to 2-1.
Greenwich Rolls Past Waterford-Halfmoon Behind Curtis’ 13-Strikeout Gem
WATERFORD/HALFMOON — The Greenwich Witches picked up a dominant league win Monday afternoon, defeating Waterford-Halfmoon 9-1 behind a lights-out performance from pitcher Calvin Curtis.
Curtis went the distance, allowing just one run on five hits while striking out 13 and walking one. The Witches backed him up at the plate with a steady offensive attack, scoring in four of their six innings.
Ryan Ingber led the way offensively with a single, a double, and three RBIs. Owen Brockway added two doubles and an RBI of his own. Greenwich totaled five hits on the day but capitalized on six Waterford-Halfmoon errors to build a commanding lead.
Waterford-Halfmoon got its lone run in the top of the first and was held scoreless the rest of the way. Anthony Mantello recorded the team’s only extra-base hit with a double. Conner Belonga took the loss, giving up nine runs—five earned—over five innings, walking four and striking out three.
With the win, Greenwich improves to 3-2 overall and 2-2 in league play. Waterford-Halfmoon falls to 1-3 overall and 1-2 in league action.
Tamarac Rallies Late to Top Hoosick Falls, 9-4
HOOSICK FALLS — The Tamarac Bengals exploded for seven runs in the top of the seventh inning to pull off a dramatic 9-4 comeback win over Hoosick Falls on Monday, April 14.
After trailing most of the game, Tamarac turned a 4-2 deficit into a five-run lead in the final frame, powered by clutch hits from Jacob Smith and Troy Karz. Smith went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs, while Karz added two hits, two RBIs, and three stolen bases. Keegan Blakesley also contributed two hits and drove in two. Adam Quackenbush knocked in a pair, and Dylan Plante and Owen Blakesley each added a hit.
Nicky Desso started on the mound for Tamarac, striking out six over four innings while allowing just one earned run. CJ Hawk came on in relief and shut the door, earning the win with three scoreless innings and five strikeouts.
Hoosick Falls got off to a hot start with two runs in the first and another in the second. Luke Nicholas led the Panthers' offense, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two stolen bases. Cole Ziehm doubled and stole a base, while Owen Hart added a hit and a run scored.
R. Sparks pitched into the seventh for Hoosick Falls, striking out eight, but Tamarac’s late-game bats proved too much. Reliever S. Tate was tagged for five runs on six hits in just a third of an inning.

Greenwich Shuts Out Taconic Hills Behind Skiff's Complete Game Gem
GREENWICH — The Greenwich Witches rode a dominant pitching performance from senior Cooper Skiff to a 3-0 win over Taconic Hills in non-league varsity baseball action Wednesday afternoon.
Skiff tossed a complete-game shutout, scattering four hits over seven innings while striking out five and walking just one. The Witches played clean defense behind him, committing no errors in the victory.
All three Greenwich runs were unearned, but the team capitalized on its opportunities at the plate. Ryan Ingber led the way offensively with a pair of singles. The Witches plated two runs in the third inning and tacked on an insurance run in the fifth to pull ahead for good.
Taconic Hills starter Tristan Super pitched well despite the loss, striking out eight over five innings while allowing five hits and no earned runs.
The win improves Greenwich’s overall record to 4-2 (2-2 league), while Taconic Hills falls to 4-2 overall and 4-1 in league play.
Greenwich returns to action Thursday at noon, hosting Averill Park.
Hoosick Falls Pulls Away Late to Top Salem-Cambridge, 14–4
HOOSICK FALLS — A steady offensive attack and a strong complete-game outing from Luke Nicholas lifted Hoosick Falls to a 14–4 league win over Salem-Cambridge on Wednesday.
After falling behind 2–0 in the first, the Panthers came alive in the third inning and never looked back, scoring 12 runs over the next four frames. Nicholas went the distance on the mound, allowing 7 hits and 4 earned runs while walking three and striking out one.
Carson Glover led the Hoosick Falls offense with a home run, single, and two RBIs. Max Landry added two singles, two RBIs, and scored three times. Cole Ziehm doubled, Eli Brown had a pair of singles, and both Spencer Tate and Porter Driscoll collected two hits and drove in a run apiece.
For Salem-Cambridge, Ethan Dunham doubled and singled, scoring once, while Stephen Yakubec also doubled, scored twice, and stole a base. Drake Webster drove in three with a hit of his own.
Salem-Cambridge used four pitchers in the effort: James Beagle, Cooper Petell, Drake Webster, and Luke Yakubec combined to allow 12 hits and 14 runs, 12 of them earned.
The loss drops Salem-Cambridge to 2–2 overall, though they remain 2–0 in league play. Hoosick Falls improves to 3–1.
BOYS LACROSSE
Panthers Drop First Game of Season to Stillwater-Mechanicville
HOOSICK FALLS — The Hoosick Falls boys varsity lacrosse team suffered its first setback of the season with a hard-fought loss to Stillwater-Mechanicville on Monday.
Senior goalie Logan Ryan kept the Panthers in the game with six solid saves between the pipes, while the defensive unit battled to contain the visiting offense. Senior Brady Mann led the effort on the ground, scooping up nine ground balls and causing four turnovers. Tommy Kane added six ground balls and three caused turnovers, while Sam Fauler contributed five ground balls of his own. Ryan McMahon also stood tall on defense, recording four caused turnovers.
SOFTBALL
Tamarac Edges Hoosick Falls in Extra-Inning
HOOSICK FALLS — In a thrilling varsity softball showdown that stretched into the ninth inning, Hoosick Falls fell just short against Tamarac, losing 2-1 in a pitchers' duel on Thursday.
Junior ace Kennedy Boisvert was outstanding in the circle, striking out 19 batters in a dominant performance that gave the Panthers every chance to win. Offensively, junior Erin Conety drove in the team's lone run with a pair of singles, while freshman Brynn Lackey continued her strong season with a single and a double.
Colonie Rallies in the Seventh to Edge Witches
COLONIE — Greenwich saw a late lead slip away Friday as Colonie stormed back with four runs in the bottom of the seventh to hand the Witches a heartbreaking 7-6 loss in non-league softball action.
The Witches carried a 6-3 lead into the final frame, but the Wolfpack put together a furious rally to walk it off. Ashley Hacker delivered at the plate for Colonie, driving in two runs, while A. Laraway earned the win in the circle.
For Greenwich, Alexa Jansen went 2-for-4 and Oliveah Reiszel drove in two runs to pace the offense. Keeley Vooris took the loss despite a solid outing.
Greenwich Breaks Away in Extras to Top Salem
SALEM — A wild eighth inning saw Greenwich explode for seven runs to break a 5-5 tie and claim a 12-5 win over Salem in a non-league softball showdown.
The Witches tallied five hits in the extra frame, highlighted by a two-RBI double from Morgan Cary and clutch hits up and down the order. Maddie Curley earned the win in relief, tossing three no-hit innings with four strikeouts and three walks, while also helping her own cause at the plate by going 2-for-4 with a double.
Lexie Jansen added a 2-for-3 performance with a double, and Ella Celani tripled and drove in a run. Keeley Vooris started in the circle and notched four strikeouts before Curley closed it out.
For Salem, Sophie Keays turned in a strong all-around performance despite the loss. She struck out 12 over eight innings and collected two hits at the plate. Renee Cary provided a jolt for the Generals with a deep solo home run, and Kennedy Jackson chipped in with a hit and three RBIs.
Vooris Powers Greenwich in 22-0 Rout of Hawks
The Greenwich Witches rolled past Hoosic Valley with a dominant 22-0 victory on Monday, powered by an explosive offensive performance and a strong outing in the circle from Keeley Vooris.
Vooris not only earned the win but led the charge at the plate, going 4-for-4 with 5 RBIs to pace the Witches’ offense. Greenwich was in control from the start, piling on the runs while keeping the Valley bats quiet throughout.
Laney Bochette was a lone bright spot for Hoosic Valley, accounting for all three of the team’s hits. Abby Marpe took the loss for the Valley.
Boisvert Notches 1,000th Career Strikeout as Panthers Power Past Emma Willard
HOOSICK FALLS — Kennedy Boisvert made history Monday afternoon, becoming just the second player in program history to record 1,000 career strikeouts as Hoosick Falls defeated Emma Willard 11-1 in Wasaren League action.
With her team leading 11-0, Boisvert returned to the circle in the seventh inning just one strikeout shy of the milestone. After the leadoff batter popped out and a double broke up her no-hit bid, Boisvert regrouped and struck out Emma Willard’s cleanup hitter, Anjuli Stamper-Kong, on a 2-2 pitch to seal her place in Panther history.
“I was a little bit nervous,” said Boisvert. “But I knew…I was giving everything up to God. Just letting him take control; I trusted him completely.”
“I was just trying to take my time; trying to slow down the game,” she added. “Not trying to rush anything.”
Boisvert finished the game with 13 strikeouts, allowing just two hits, one run, and no walks. The junior has been on varsity since seventh grade and is already committed to Division I UMass Lowell.
“It means everything,” she said. “I’m just so grateful I was able to hit it my junior year.”
“She just puts a lot of hard work in to it,” said head coach Nicole Martin. “And she’s been doing it since she was seven, eight years old. [The hard work] just speaks for itself right there. [I’m] very proud of her. She’s given a lot up for it, and she deserves it.”
Hoosick Falls improved to 4-1 on the season and traveled to Granville for a 10:30 a.m. game Tuesday.
Panthers Power Past Granville in 10–3 Victory
GRANVILLE — The Hoosick Falls Panthers came out swinging Tuesday afternoon, racking up seven runs in the third inning to fuel a 10-3 road win over Granville.
Kennedy Boisvert was dominant in the circle, striking out 14 over five shutout innings while allowing just one hit and one walk. She also helped her own cause at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a double and 3 RBIs. Madison Walker closed out the final two frames, adding four more strikeouts despite surrendering three runs on five hits.
The Panthers’ bats were hot and disciplined, drawing 15 walks and collecting 8 hits. Catcher Isabella Stefanovich was a force in the middle of the order, going 2-for-4 with a double and 2 RBIs, while shortstop Zoe James went 1-for-4 with a double, a walk, and 2 runs scored. Brooke Lackey chipped in a hit, walk, RBI and run, and Taylor Hart reached base three times, driving in a run with a single.
Hoosick Falls also ran the bases well—Avery McMahon, James, Stefanovich, Boisvert and Jayden Roberson all recorded stolen bases. Roberson reached base in all of her plate appearances without recording an at-bat, scoring twice.
Granville broke up the shutout in the fifth inning with three runs, including RBIs from Jaden and Elias Velez and Luke Olsen. Jaden Velez also started on the mound, allowing eight runs over 2.1 innings, while Logan Baker threw 4.2 innings in relief, striking out five.
With the win, Hoosick Falls improves to 5–1 on the season. The Panthers are 3–0 in non-league play and 2–1 in the Wasaren League.
Greenwich Outlasts Argyle in Extra-Inning
ARGYLE — It took eight innings to settle it, but the Greenwich Witches edged out Argyle 5-4 in a thrilling non-league softball matchup on Tuesday.
Maddie Curley earned the win in the circle for Greenwich, while Grace Depew took the loss for Argyle in a hard-fought effort.
Lexie Jansen led the Greenwich offense, going 2-for-4 with a double and driving in two runs. Ella Celani was a defensive standout, recording six putouts to help keep Argyle in check. For the host team, Campbell came through with a strong double to pace the Argyle bats.
The non league game brings Greenwich to 4-1 overall.
Celani, Andrew Power Witches Past Horses
GREENWICH — The Witches’ bats were on fire Tuesday as Greenwich rolled to a 15–5 non-league win over Schuylerville, improving their overall record to 5–1 on the season.
Ella Celani delivered a monster performance at the plate, going 3-for-5 with a home run, two triples, and four RBIs. Molly Andrew chipped in with a 2-for-3 day and drove in five runs, while Lexi Jansen stayed hot with a 4-for-5 outing.
Keeley Vooris earned the win in the circle, with Alexa Jansen coming on in relief to record the save.
Schuylerville had strong efforts from T. Dennis (3-for-4) and A. Reese (2-for-4), but the Black Horses couldn’t keep pace with Greenwich’s high-powered offense. Abby Smith took the loss for Schuylerville.
GIRLS LACROSSE
Greenwich-Cambridge Girls Lacrosse Stays Unbeaten with 18-4 Win Over Johnstown
GREENWICH — The Greenwich-Cambridge girls lacrosse team continued its dominant run through league play on Wednesday, cruising to an 18-4 home win over Johnstown to improve to 7-1 overall and a perfect 6-0 in league action.
The team jumped out to a commanding 13-3 lead at halftime and never looked back, spreading the scoring across the roster. Quinn Sheeshan led the way with five goals, followed by Morgan Foster with four and Isabelle Miller with a hat trick. Brooke Deminenko also netted three goals, while Ali Chuhta, Julia Sgambelluri, and Sarah Sievers each added one. Avery Timmons chipped in with an assist.
Reese Hunt anchored the defense with 10 saves in goal.
Johnstown’s scoring came from J. Eaton, who tallied three goals, and M. Ganzharina with one. Goalie M. Ackerknecht recorded two saves in the loss.
Greenwich-Cambridge will look to keep its momentum going as they head deeper into league play.
TRACK & FIELD
Wasaren League Early Spring Track Meet
The Wasaren League Early Spring Meet, held April 15 at Hoosic Valley, brought together student-athletes from across the region in a full slate of track and field events. Greenwich, Cambridge-Salem, Hoosic Valley, Tamarac, Mechanicville, and other schools posted strong showings in a competitive day on the track and in the field.
In the boys’ sprints, Greenwich’s Joe Radovich won both the 100m (11.40) and 400m (52.62), while Cambridge-Salem’s Abraham Cushing claimed the 200m title in 24.21. Mechanicville’s Logan Golden took the 110m hurdles (17.72) and the triple jump (40-2), while Greenwich’s Hudson Logan and Cambridge-Salem’s Kolin Rowland rounded out the top three in the 400m hurdles behind Golden.
Distance events were dominated by Mechanicville’s Charlie Weiss, who won the 1600m (4:55.44) and took third in the 800m (2:14.91), while Stillwater’s Tim Oliver led the 800m (2:09.68), and Holy Trinity’s Braedan Waters won the 3200m in 11:49.30. Cambridge-Salem took the 4x100 (45.55) and 4x400 (3:51.68) relays, while Tamarac claimed the 4x800 (9:58.92). In the field, standout performances included Hoosic Valley’s Zane Briggs, who won the discus (140-3) and shot put (39-0), and Tamarac’s Michael Plusch, who cleared 12-6 to win the pole vault.
For the girls, Tamarac’s Emma Waugh had a big day, winning the 200m (27.39) and 400m (1:05.63) while placing second in the 100m behind Hoosic Valley’s Ella Waldron (12.92). Greenwich’s Sarah Radovich was third in the 100m and second in the 200m. In hurdles, Greenwich’s Arriyana Derby won the 100m hurdles (15.97), while Mechanicville’s Madelyn Hopeck took the 400m hurdles (1:08.39).
