Fort Miller Group Becomes 100% Employee-Owned and Expands Operations
EASTON — The Fort Miller Group, Inc., a long-established leader in manufacturing and construction solutions, has announced a major milestone in its history: the company is now 100% owned by its employees. This transition was accomplished through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), finalized on January 1, 2025. The company, founded in 1948, employs over 500 people and remains firmly rooted in the local community.
The Fort Miller Group consists of four companies: Access Anvil Corp., The Fort Miller Co., Inc., The Fort Miller Service Corp., and Tymetal Corp. Through the ESOP, employees gain a direct stake in the future success of the company. This move ensures that Fort Miller will continue as a locally owned business, maintaining its commitment to local hiring and community involvement.
In addition to becoming employee-owned, The Fort Miller Group has expanded its operations with the acquisition of the former SCA/Essity paper converting facility in Middle Falls, NY, as of March 31, 2025. This new space will serve as a base for several Fort Miller operations, primarily Access Anvil Corp., and will support the company’s growth by providing additional office and manufacturing space.
The Fort Miller Group’s commitment to local investment and employment is at the forefront of this expansion. The acquisition not only supports the company’s current needs but also positions it for future growth, enabling continued local hiring and investment in the community.
“We are grateful for the support we’ve received from our surrounding communities over the past 77 years,” said Rick Schumaker, Director for The Fort Miller Group. “This transition to employee ownership and our expansion in Middle Falls mark the beginning of a new chapter of success for our company and our employees.”
